Adjusting the body means getting adjusted to the emotions:

The language of the body - especially facial expressions and gestures - is of particular significance when it comes to identifying and deciphering emotions. This language has a biological-physiological substrate but is very much characterized by social conventions and cultural knowledge formations.

Understanding the Connection Between Body, Mind, Soul, and Emotions

When we talk about the human body, most of us talk about the physical form that we see in front of us. However, in reality, every person is made up of four bodies which are interrelated to one another and coexist in harmony.  How people understand the relationship between body and soul, whether they speak of the heart and mind, or of motor programs and their cortical representations, influences the manner in which emotions are felt and expressed. It bears an impact on body practices that evoke or temper emotions. The projects analyze such practices and the relevant background knowledge within various religious, aesthetic, medical and military contexts.

How Emotional Balance Supports Overall Health and Well-Being

Any disruption or imbalance between these bodies can lead to a number of health problems. Thus, it is necessary to understand how one body relates to another and how they can all be kept in perfect balance to live a healthy and happy life. The importance of the emotional composition is one of the types of the four bodies which are very crucial in maintaining the body in a whole. But less people are aware of the importance of the emotional composition in one’s state of wellbeing. People who have good emotional health are aware of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They have learned healthy ways to cope up with the stress and problems that are a normal part of life. They feel good about themselves and have healthy relationships.

Each one of us carries an emotional baggage, but the question is how do we deal with it effectively? If we choose to hold on to it, harboring negative feelings toward others or ourselves, we will only increase the negative toll on our body, and we also won’t have the chance to feel any happier. On the other hand, choosing to deal with the emotional pain head on can also cause us serious heartache and stress.

How Stress, Excitement, and Anxiety Impact the Body

We’ve all experienced emotions directly in our body. On the way to meet our hot new relationship prospect we can barely keep still as our hearts pounds with excitement; while the prospect of an important job interview may tighten our muscles and make our hands sweat with anxiety. This link between emotions and bodily states is also apparent in the way we speak of emotions; the nervous bride-to-be may suddenly have ‘cold feet’, a breakup can leave us ‘heartbroken’, and our favorite song can send ‘a shiver down our spine’. None of this is surprising considering numerous studies have established that emotion systems prepare us to meet challenges in our environment by adjusting the activation of multiple body systems; including the cardiovascular, skeletomuscular, hormone, and nervous systems.

Since we know that emotions can affect the body in a negative way if they are not dealt with appropriately, the key to maintaining good health and a strong body is to learn how to deal with emotions. If you need to release your negative emotions, it is

important to learn about these following methods:

EXPRESS YOUR EMOTIONS IN AN APPROPRIATE WAY: One has to make sure with how to express the emotions, because they should never tend to hurt anyone in any ways. When expressing, one also should know how to deal them independently as no one stays with him/her in every situation.

LEARN TO SMILE EVEN IN PAIN: Your smile makes others around you happy, and by default it will eventually make you happier as well. Even the basic act of smiling is powerful enough to alter your body’s chemistry, release endorphins and help you feel more relaxed.

YOGA: Involving strengthening and breathing exercises, yoga is a great way to find inner calm and balance between the four bodies. It reduces the inflammation process in the body which elevates your mood and allow your body to recover more quickly.

DIET: A good diet is not only necessary for a healthy physical body. Sufficient intake of nutrition is necessary for the proper functioning of your mental capabilities as well.

POSITIVE THINKING: Negative emotions and thoughts channel through your body, causing harmful effects. The power of positive thinking and its miraculous effects on the body cannot be ignored.

DEVELOP RESILIENCE: People with resilience are able to cope up with stress in a healthy way. Resilience can be learned and strengthened with different strategies. These include having social support, keeping a positive view of yourself, accepting change, and keeping things in perspective.

CALM YOUR BODY AND MIND:
Relaxation methods, such as meditation, listening to music, listening to guided imagery, yoga are some of the useful ways to bring your emotions into balance.
Poor emotional health can weaken your body’s immune system. This makes you more likely to get colds and other infections during emotionally difficult times. Also, when you are feeling stressed, anxious, or upset, you may not take care of your health as well as you should. You may start unhealthy practices like drug abuse, consumption of alcohol and tobacco.

It’s been scientifically proven that positivism and good emotions, such as joy and happiness, releasehormones responsible for strengthening the immune system.  Similarly, it was determined that negative emotions have the opposite effect and weaken the immune system, making our bodies more prone to illness. Being a positive person is a question of choice, good thoughts and feelings. A good dose of positivism is worth it; it improves our physical and emotional health in many ways.
