DOs and DON’Ts to become successful according to Hatha Yoga. Things to avoid while following the path of sadhana.
Success is something which always has been described in various ways according to their ideas. To become successful, one has to have a goal in mind and he needs to work a lot on that consistently clearing all the obstacles hindering his way in between. Yoga is always considered as an art and science since long time. The science of hatha yoga is stated to not only be a physical practice intended for health and fitness, but also for awakening ‘vital energies’ within us such as Prana, Chakra and Kundalini energy The real purpose of Hatha yoga is to open the gates to self-realization. We can define the ‘goal’ of Hatha yoga as self-realization and ‘success’ as the ability to unlock the gate which leads us there.
THE KEYS TO SUCCESS:
In order to open or unlock something, we need some keys and here those keys to achieve success are certain principles. One has to follow those principles which are initially difficult to follow and on consistent practice, they can be achieved. Going into the depths of some of these principles, the first key is:
ENTHUSIASM- The positive attitude and the way of approaching is the primary object one has to practice. Staying inspired helps to be enthusiastic and makes us willing to take part in this sometimes demanding journey. We have to keep in mind that without enthusiasm, no achievement or discovery can ever be made.
PERSEVERANCE- One has to work on his goals without worrying about the results.
Continuous efforts are to be put even if there are no visible signs of progress. It may be delayed; one needs to have patience for this as it is difficult initially. Perseverance always goes hand in hand with patience and determination as well.
DISCRIMINATION- one should be able to differentiate or distinguish things and should have the decision making ability and choose only the conducive things happening instead of getting diverted easily. For this one has to question himself and evaluate himself in regular intervals.
FAITH- Faith within us should be very high and it should be unshakeable as one has to go through many difficult circumstances in the process of achieving success. One should have faith in his goal, teacher and the practice, also be careful not having blind faith on anything.
COURAGE- Courage in one’s mind to perform a feat is always mandatory. It allows us to be brave enough to accept our vulnerability as we move away from the familiar thoughts we know, and towards the unknown.
AVOIDING THE COMPANY OF COMMON PEOPLE- Here common people are those who have a negative impact/effect on us. It is very necessary to stay away from the negativity in order to bring out the best within us. We should try to be with those who can influence us positively which indeed help in self-reflection.
Following those principles is not just sufficient to attain success because we have a DON’T in contrary to every DO. So it is necessary for a sadhaka to avoid following some things which hinder the process of sadhana like:
OVEREATING- This may seem quite weird, but this slows down our mental activities along with physical activities causing dullness and lethargy. It is advised to have the food cautiously in order to avoid any problems related to digestive system as they would trigger problems to other systems evidently.
EXERTION- Too much physical or mental efforts reduce our energy levels apparently. It will make us feel tired and difficult to practice anything properly. One has to be quite smart to understand how much of effort or work is exactly required and sufficient.
TOO MUCH TALKING- It is a waste of time, energy and it is said if we talk more unnecessarily, we tend to loose positive vibrations and the memory within us. It distracts us from the process and diverts to something completely useless.
TOO MANY CONTACTS- It means not to be in contact with those who do not share the same path, as they can be of distraction or exert a negative influence on us. Being with someone with the similar goal always maintains a positive and conducive atmosphere which can be helpful instead of surrounding yourself with unwanted aimless people.
UNSTEADINESS- This is in contrary to determination, perseverance and consistency as we have read above. Not fixed towards the process with completely unstable mind.
ADHERENCE TO RULES- We have to abide by certain rules but should not follow rules just to follow the rules, it restricts oneself and makes him narrow-minded. Yoga always is meant to expand one’s consciousness and not to limit that.
It is always recommended to apply one’s self in the process of learning which creates a huge difference in the results. One also should be aware of the situation, decide and make any exceptions if required while following any of the above discussed principles. One who follows all these principles in a right way will keep his mind, body and soul in control with ease while those who find excuses or drop out in between the process will find it difficult to reach the state of awareness and enlightenment. One who is well aware of his goal will always find and make ways to work towards it and for it, so that he will definitely taste the fruits of his efforts and becomes successful.
